Nigeria

Overview: Aware of the threats mercury can impose on human health and the global environment, the government of Nigeria has been an active participant in international programs and agreements to address mercury releases and uses in industrial applications. The Ministry of Environment was actively involved throughout negotiations on the Minamata Convention on mercury and has proposed a draft text on a National Policy on Mercury Use and Phase Out Plan.
