Overview: All products and chemicals containing Mercury compounds are imported into Samoa as none is produced locally for use. However, there are also growing concerns about the hazardous nature of Mercury and Mercury compounds from anthropogenic emissions and releases that pose adverse effects on human health and the environment. Samoa's population is estimated to be 197,773 people.
