MercuryLearn Training

The Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global treaty to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury. It highlights that actions must be taken to reduce further anthropogenic mercury releases. These actions should be guided by reliable information on sources of mercury emissions and releases. Therefore, developing robust national mercury inventories is critical in identifying and addressing the issue of mercury releases.

As part of the ongoing efforts for building national capacity of countries, UN Environment and UNITAR have collaborated on developing an online training platform: MercuryLearn. The main component is the UN Environment Toolkit for Identification and Quantification of Mercury Releases. The platform is an innovative tool which provides interactive modules assisting users in learning to develop mercury inventories. The training platform can be accessed at
