December 6 2017 - December 16 2017 Ministry of Water, Land and Environment (MoLWE) Eritrea
In the scope of the Minamata Convention, between 6 and 16 December 2017, UNITAR trainer was in Eritrea to provide face-to-face and in the field training on developing baseline estimates of mercury use and investigating socio-economic, health and environmental aspects in Eritrea’s Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) sector as part of the wider Minamata Initial Assessment (MIA) and National Action Plan (NAP) project with Ministry of Water, Land and Environment (MoLWE). It involved in-office training in Asmara as well as training in collecting data in two mine sites near the town of Barentu (in Tahiko and Dega respectively).
