On 7 November 2016, the Government of Gambia deposited their instruments of accession, thereby becoming the 35th future party to the Minamata Convention. This motion was tabled by Pa Ousman Jarju, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources and seconded by Hon Haddy Nyang Jagne, National Assembly Member for Jeshwang.
