Overview: In Guinea-Bissau consumer products containing Mercury used in the country are all of foreign origin. However, awareness on the toxicity of Mercury is almost nonexistent. The country has no policy or law in place, which regulates the use, release or production of hazardous chemicals. As a result, enforcement entities are unable to monitor and control their use, release or production, including Mercury. Population is at an estimated 1,693,398 people.
