Training workshop on developing national mercury inventories

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and United Nations Developement Organization (UNDP), is organizing a training workshop on developing national mercury inventories. The workshop will be held from 12 July 2016 to 15 July 2016 in Barcelona, Spain and will be conducted in English and French with simultaneous interpretation.

The overall goal of the workshop is to provide training to the participants for developing their national mercury inventories. The specific objectives of the workshop are: 

  • to have comprehensive understanding of UNEP's 'Toolkit for identification and quantification of mercury releases' including the principles and methodology;
  • to gain practical knowledge on data collection procedures including identifying relevant stakeholders;
  • to initiate the process of developing national mercury inventories;
  • to understand the steps involved in completing the inventory component of the MIA project.
