Overview: In Senegal, mercury is mostly used in the ASGM sector. So far, an assessment and an action plan were developed in the sector. The Government is currently preparing a regulation for the use of mercury in the sector. Despite the development of initiatives in the ASGM sector, the country still lacks information on the national use, emissions and releases of mercury. The population of Senegal is estimated to be of 13,567,338 people.
