Overview: In Benin, mercury emissions and releases result mostly from ASGM, waste (thermometers, electronics) and agriculture (pesticides). A national mercury inventory has not yet been developed in the country. Up to the present, the Beninese government has not created policies to control the use and management of mercury. The country's population is of approximately 10,879,829 people.
