Overview: Peru developed a national mercury inventory in 2006. The main uses of mercury imported into Peru include artisanal gold mining, chlor-alkali production, and dental amalgam. Mercury imported for use in Peru may also be sent to other destinations in South America such as Colombia, Ecuador, or Guyana.
